What a great park for daily activities but as of late the park has started to attract a fair amount of vagrant campers who can pester people and rummage through the trash at times. Add the feral cats that roam the park and that gets pretty annoying. There is a decent disk golf course, walking trails, head up the river to the first bridge about 4 miles up and you can float down to the park with safety and ease in a couple hours. The campsites in the b loop are larger than some parks and well shaded. The A (reserve) loop has almost no shade but the trees are growing in places. the bathrooms never have any soap but are cleaned fairly often and I have always been able to take a HOT free shower there. The most recent hosts are very kind but have been a bit overly so allowing a good number of sites in the B loop to be "permanently" occupied by the homeless. The noise level is acceptable most of the time. Crime has been an issue from time to time with people having things stolen from their sites or cars getting broken into in the parking lot. So take precaution and lock everything up out of sight. I have been coming to this grounds since I was a kid and 2 years ago I would have given it 5* so the drop in safety and quality is very recent.
I love this place, great place for barbecuing with family and friends. And if you have children, there is a very nice play structure for your children. Also if you like to exercise, thier is a nice place in the shade for that. Oh and there is 2-3 different bath room area's. And finally there is a nice place to swim, if you dont wana swim it's still nice just to get your feet wet after you have been on them all day.
Excellent place to get your forest fix that's close enough for a quick getaway...well marked trails and awesome scenery...
Great family place. Relaxing, and the kids can still act like kids without being scolded by angry campers. But the overall aura is not chaotic with nuisance children everywhere. Lots of walking trails, a beautiful river and well staffed to keep it clean and tidy providing a great camping experience. Highly recommend a visit.
I love this park with picnic area available. Camping like tents or campers so close to town but so beautiful place to go
